Spanish Conversation

Javier: ¡Nicole! Qué bueno que viniste.

Javier: Nicole! I'm glad you came.

Nicole: Feliz cumpleaños. Perdón por llegar un poco tarde.

Nicole: Happy birthday. Sorry I'm a little late.

Javier: No pasa nada. Apenas vamos a sacar la comida.

Javier: No problem. We're just about to put the food out.

Nicole: Perfecto, entonces llegué a tiempo.

Nicole: Perfect, then I made it on time.

Javier: Más que a tiempo. Dame eso, ¿qué traes?

Javier: More than on time. Give me that—what did you bring?

Nicole: Una botella de vino y tu regalo.

Nicole: A bottle of wine and your gift.

Javier: Te dije que no hacía falta regalo.

Javier: I told you a gift wasn't necessary.

Nicole: Ya sé, pero igual te traje algo.

Nicole: I know, but I brought you something anyway.

Javier: Gracias. Lo abro después, ¿sí?

Javier: Thanks. I'll open it later, okay?

Nicole: Claro. ¿Ya llegó todo el mundo?

Nicole: Of course. Is everyone here already?

Javier: Casi. Faltan dos amigos de la oficina.

Javier: Almost. Two friends from the office are still coming.

Nicole: Ah, mira, ahí está tu hermana. Voy a saludarla.

Nicole: Oh, look, there's your sister. I'm going to say hi.

Javier: Sí. Y sírvete algo de tomar; está todo en la cocina.

Javier: Yeah. And get yourself something to drink; everything's in the kitchen.

Nicole: ¿Necesitas ayuda con algo primero?

Nicole: Do you need help with anything first?

Javier: Si quieres, puedes llevar estos platos a la mesa.

Javier: If you want, you can take these plates to the table.

Nicole: Va. ¿Y el pastel?

Nicole: Sure. And the cake?

Javier: En el refrigerador. Si lo saco ahorita, alguien se lo come antes de tiempo.

Javier: In the fridge. If I take it out now, someone will eat it too early.

Nicole: Buena decisión. Yo no confío en nadie cuando hay pastel.

Nicole: Good call. I don't trust anyone when there's cake around.

Javier: Por eso mismo.

Javier: Exactly.
