Spanish Conversation

Optometrist: Buenos días. ¿Qué le preocupa de su vista?

Optometrist: Good morning. What concerns you about your vision?

Patient: Lately things look a little blurry at a distance, especially when I drive at night.

Optometrist: ¿Usa lentes actualmente?

Optometrist: Do you currently wear glasses?

Patient: Yes, but these are almost three years old.

Optometrist: ¿Los usa todo el tiempo?

Optometrist: Do you wear them all the time?

Patient: Para manejar y trabajar. Si estoy en casa, a veces no.

Patient: For driving and working. If I'm at home, sometimes I don't.

Optometrist: Have you had headaches or eye strain?

Patient: Yes, after spending several hours at the computer.

Optometrist: Bien. Primero voy a revisar su graduación actual.

Optometrist: Good. First I'm going to check your current prescription.

Patient: Está bien.

Patient: Okay.

Optometrist: Mire la pantalla. ¿Puede leer la última línea?

Optometrist: Look at the screen. Can you read the last line?

Patient: No, not the last one. I can read the one above it.

Optometrist: Perfecto. Ahora voy a cambiar los lentes. ¿Mejor uno o dos?

Optometrist: Perfect. Now I'm going to change the lenses. Better with one or two?

Patient: Dos.

Patient: Two.

Optometrist: ¿Y ahora?

Optometrist: And now?

Patient: Uno... creo.

Patient: One... I think.

Optometrist: Don't worry if the difference is small.

Patient: Entonces uno.

Patient: Then one.

Optometrist: Muy bien.

Optometrist: Very good. Your prescription has changed a little in both eyes, more in the right one.

Patient: Does that explain why I see worse at night?

Optometrist: Puede contribuir, sí. También voy a revisar astigmatismo.

Optometrist: It can contribute, yes. I'm also going to check for astigmatism.

Patient: Perfecto.

Patient: Perfect.

Optometrist: Listo.

Optometrist: Done. With the new prescription, you should notice a clear improvement at a distance.

Patient: ¿Necesito cambiar de lentes ya?

Patient: Do I need to replace my glasses now?

Optometrist: I recommend it, especially if you drive at night.

Patient: ¿Y para la computadora?

Patient: And for the computer?

Optometrist: Puede usar la misma graduación. También podemos poner tratamiento antirreflejante.

Optometrist: You can use the same prescription. We can also add an anti-reflective coating.

Patient: ¿Vale la pena?

Patient: Is it worth it?

Optometrist: Si pasa muchas horas frente a pantallas, suele ser cómodo.

Optometrist: If you spend many hours in front of screens, people often find it more comfortable.

Patient: Entonces sí lo quiero.

Patient: Then yes, I'd like that.

Optometrist: Perfecto. Ahora podemos ver armazones.

Optometrist: Perfect. Now we can look at frames.
