Spanish Conversation

Student: Profesora, ¿tiene un minuto?

Student: Professor, do you have a minute?

Teacher: Sí, claro. ¿Qué pasa?

Teacher: Yes, of course. What's up?

Student: Quería preguntarle por el ensayo final.

Student: I wanted to ask you about the final essay.

Teacher: Dime.

Teacher: Go ahead.

Student: The guide lists several topics, but I wanted to work on a different one.

Teacher: That's fine, as long as it's related to the course.

Student: I want to write about how Spanish changes across generations within a family.

Teacher: Sí, ese tema encaja muy bien.

Teacher: Yes, that fits the course very well.

Student: I was thinking of interviewing two people from the same family and comparing the way they speak.

Teacher: That can work, but remember that the interview doesn't replace your academic sources.

Student: ¿Cuántas fuentes necesitamos?

Student: How many sources do we need?

Teacher: Por lo menos tres.

Teacher: At least three.

Student: So I could use the interview as additional material.

Teacher: Exactamente.

Teacher: Exactly.

Student: ¿Tengo que incluir la transcripción completa?

Student: Do I have to include the full transcript?

Teacher: No. You can quote the relevant parts and explain the context.

Student: Perfecto.

Student: Perfect.

Teacher: ¿Ya tiene a quién entrevistar?

Teacher: Do you already have people to interview?

Student: Yes, a friend and her mother agreed.

Teacher: Muy bien.

Teacher: Very good. Make sure you explain what you'll use the interview for.

Student: Claro.

Student: Of course.

Teacher: ¿Alguna otra duda?

Teacher: Any other questions?

Student: Yes. Can I send you the outline before I start writing?

Teacher: Yes. If you send it before Monday, I can review it.

Student: Perfecto. Se lo envío este fin de semana.

Student: Perfect. I'll send it this weekend.

Teacher: Muy bien.

Teacher: Very good.

Student: Gracias por su tiempo.

Student: Thanks for your time.

Teacher: De nada.

Teacher: You're welcome.
