Reviewing Your Spanish Performance Portfolio and Addressing Remaining C2 Gaps
Reviewing Your Spanish Performance Portfolio and Addressing Remaining C2 Gaps
This final lesson asks you to evaluate your development through evidence from your own performance. Completing all course lessons does not by itself prove external C2 proficiency. Your portfolio should show what you can now do independently, which improvements survive in new tasks, and which C2-level gaps still require targeted work.
Build the portfolio across time
Select work from several stages rather than only your strongest recent pieces.
Include:
una producción inicial — an early production.
una versión corregida — a revised version.
una tarea nueva sin apoyo — a new unsupported task.
una muestra oral — a speaking sample.
una muestra de interacción — an interaction sample.
una muestra de escritura o mediación — a writing or mediation sample.
Compare original and revised work
Ask:
¿Qué cambió entre la primera versión y la revisión? — What changed between the first version and the revision?
Possible areas:
precisión gramatical — grammatical precision.
alcance y modalidad — scope and modality.
organización del texto — text organization.
registro — register.
referencia — reference.
ritmo y fluidez — rhythm and fluency.
Revision is not enough
A correction can show that you understood feedback, but the more important question is whether the improvement transfers to a new task.
Ask:
¿Puedo hacer esto correctamente en una tarea nueva sin mirar la corrección anterior? — Can I do this correctly in a new task without looking at the earlier correction?
Evidence of transfer
Example:
Earlier weakness:
strengthening cautious claims during paraphrase.
Revised work:
you corrected several cases after feedback.
New evidence:
in a later unseen synthesis, you independently preserve:
podría — could / might.
sugiere — suggests.
no permite concluir — does not allow us to conclude.
This is stronger evidence that the skill has become independent.
Review across skills
Do not evaluate only grammar.
| Area | Evidence to inspect |
|---|---|
| Listening | Extended audio, overlap, implied meaning, uncertainty |
| Reading | Long texts, ambiguity, literary and nonfiction interpretation |
| Speaking | Extended turns, spontaneity, precision, prosody |
| Interaction | Turn management, disagreement, negotiation, repair |
| Writing | Cohesion, stance, lexical precision, individual voice |
| Mediation | Source preservation, audience adaptation, conflict tracking |
Look for patterns across topics
A skill is more secure when it works across different subject matter.
Example:
Puedo distinguir hecho e inferencia tanto en un artículo científico como en un debate social. — I can distinguish fact and inference both in a scientific article and in a social debate.
This is stronger than succeeding only in one familiar topic.
Look for patterns across time
Ask whether the improvement remains visible weeks later.
Useful question:
¿La mejora aparece de forma estable o solo inmediatamente después de recibir corrección? — Does the improvement appear consistently, or only immediately after receiving correction?
Identify a remaining gap precisely
Weak:
Necesito mejorar la fluidez. — I need to improve fluency.
Better:
En preguntas inesperadas, hago pausas largas cuando necesito reformular una afirmación con modalidad precisa. — In unexpected questions, I make long pauses when I need to reformulate a claim with precise modality.
The second description points to a trainable behavior.
Another gap example
Weak:
Necesito más vocabulario. — I need more vocabulary.
Better:
En escritura argumentativa repito verbos generales como “hacer” y “tener” cuando necesito expresar relaciones de evidencia, restricción y consecuencia. — In argumentative writing, I repeat general verbs such as “hacer” and “tener” when I need to express relations of evidence, restriction, and consequence.
Prioritize gaps
Do not create a list of twenty weaknesses.
Choose a small number according to:
impacto comunicativo — communicative impact.
frecuencia — frequency.
relevancia para tus objetivos — relevance to your goals.
posibilidad de medir el progreso — possibility of measuring progress.
Create one verification test for each priority
Priority:
reparar malentendidos con rapidez — repair misunderstandings quickly.
Verification test:
Responder a cinco interpretaciones incorrectas de mis propias afirmaciones y corregir cada una en menos de tres frases sin cambiar el significado original. — Respond to five incorrect interpretations of my own statements and correct each one in fewer than three sentences without changing the original meaning.
Second verification test
Priority:
mantener modalidad en síntesis — preserve modality in synthesis.
Verification test:
Resumir tres fuentes nuevas y comprobar que ninguna posibilidad, reserva o limitación se convierte en certeza. — Summarize three new sources and check that no possibility, reservation, or limitation becomes certainty.
Third verification test
Priority:
mejorar fluidez bajo preguntas imprevistas — improve fluency under unexpected questions.
Verification test:
Responder durante diez minutos a preguntas no preparadas y revisar después dónde las pausas largas impidieron mantener la estructura del argumento. — Answer unprepared questions for ten minutes and then review where long pauses prevented the structure of the argument from being maintained.
Distinguish accent from communication gaps
A personal accent that remains intelligible is not automatically a C2 gap.
Focus pronunciation work where it affects:
inteligibilidad — intelligibility.
contraste — contrast.
segmentación — segmentation.
énfasis — emphasis.
reparación de malentendidos — repair of misunderstandings.
Review support dependence
Ask:
¿Qué tareas todavía realizo bien solo con modelos, notas o tiempo de preparación? — Which tasks do I still perform well only with models, notes, or preparation time?
Then compare with:
¿Qué puedo hacer ya de forma independiente, espontánea y consistente? — What can I now do independently, spontaneously, and consistently?
Performance-based conclusion
Useful final statement:
Mi portafolio muestra un control sólido en síntesis, adaptación de registro y argumentación escrita, mientras que todavía necesito automatizar la reformulación oral bajo presión y ampliar la precisión léxica en debates técnicos no preparados. — My portfolio shows strong control in synthesis, register adaptation, and argumentative writing, while I still need to automate oral reformulation under pressure and expand lexical precision in unprepared technical debates.
This conclusion is evidence-based and specific.
Do not equate course completion with certification
Finishing all lessons shows that you have completed the designed learning sequence.
External C2 certification or a formal proficiency claim requires the standards and assessment procedures of the relevant examining body.
Your portfolio serves a different purpose: it shows where your performance is strong, where it transfers independently, and what you should work on next.
Your Continuing C2 Plan
- Select three high-impact remaining gaps.
- Collect one baseline sample for each.
- Design one focused practice routine.
- Define one verification test.
- Repeat the test with new material after a delay.
- Keep evidence of both successful transfer and recurring problems.
- Update priorities when performance changes.
Course Completion
You have reached the final lesson in this course sequence. The next stage is not another numbered lesson: it is independent use, continued exposure, targeted practice, and periodic performance review based on real evidence.
Tu objetivo ya no es “terminar más reglas”, sino usar el español con precisión, flexibilidad y autonomía en situaciones nuevas. — Your goal is no longer to “finish more rules,” but to use Spanish with precision, flexibility, and autonomy in new situations.
