Understanding Spanish Service Options, Prices, and Waiting Times
Understanding Spanish Service Options, Prices, and Waiting Times
In this listening and decision lesson, you will compare familiar service options according to price, waiting or completion time, start time, and included features. Keep these categories separate.
Four details to track
- — price
- — waiting time
- — start time
- — what it includes
Service Option A
Listen first:
Check
— Basic service: 20 euros.
— It starts at ten.
— Waiting time: thirty minutes.
— It includes inspection and cleaning.
Start time is not waiting time
— It starts at ten gives the start time.
— Waiting time: thirty minutes gives a duration.
Service Option B
Listen first:
Check
— Complete service: 35 euros.
— It starts at eleven.
— Approximate duration: one hour.
— It includes inspection, cleaning, and home delivery.
Total cost versus partial price
If you hear:
— Service: 25 euros. Delivery: 5 additional euros.
Do not report 25 euros as the total if delivery is required and the additional 5 euros apply.
Ask whether a price is total
- — Is that the total price?
- — Is delivery included?
- — Is there any additional cost?
Compare according to one need
If your priority is lower price:
— The basic service is cheaper.
If your priority is home delivery:
— The complete service includes home delivery.
Do not choose from price alone when another requirement matters
A cheaper option may not include the service feature you need. Compare the stated inclusions as well as the price.
Listening Task 3
Listen first:
Check
— Option one: 12 euros, twenty-minute wait.
— Option two: 18 euros, no wait, but it does not include delivery.
Ask about an unclear condition
- — What exactly does it include?
- — I do not understand this condition.
- — Can you explain the waiting time?
Make the choice from the advertised information
Person A: — I need home delivery and I can wait.
Person B: — Then the option that includes delivery seems better.
A practical service-comparison method
- Write the price of each option.
- Write the start time separately from any waiting or completion duration.
- List exactly what each option includes.
- Check whether an additional fee changes the total price.
- Choose according to the need that matters most.
- Ask for explanation when a condition is unclear.
- Use only the advertised information rather than assuming unstated benefits.
From Service Options to Household Repairs
You can now compare a familiar service by price, timing, and included features. The next lesson teaches you how to describe a household fault and arrange a repair visit.
