Spanish Health Mission: Arrange a Visit, Describe a Problem, and Check Instructions
This is an integrated A2 health communication mission. You will arrange a visit, describe a basic problem, answer familiar questions, and check simple written or spoken instructions. The assessment is about communication accuracy, not medical knowledge.
Mission Part 1: arrange the visit
Your goal is to create an appointment and confirm the final date and time.
Person A: Buenos días. ¿En qué puedo ayudarle? — Good morning. How can I help you?
Person B: Quiero pedir una cita. — I want to make an appointment.
Person A: Hay una cita el jueves 18 de junio a las nueve. — There is an appointment Thursday, June 18 at nine.
Person B: Sí, está bien. — Yes, that is fine.
Confirm the appointment
Person B: Entonces, ¿la cita es el jueves 18 de junio a las nueve? — So, is the appointment Thursday, June 18 at nine?
Person A: Sí, correcto. — Yes, correct.
Mission Part 2: describe the main problem
Give the symptom, location, timing, and intensity that you actually know.
Person A: ¿Qué problema tiene? — What problem do you have?
Person B: Me duele la garganta desde ayer. — My throat has hurt since yesterday.
Person A: ¿Es leve o fuerte? — Is it mild or severe?
Person B: Es fuerte. — It is severe.

Person A: ¿Tiene alguna alergia? — Do you have any allergies?
Person B: No tengo alergias conocidas. — I have no known allergies.
Person A: ¿Toma algún medicamento? — Do you take any medication?
Person B: Sí, tomo Medicamento A. — Yes, I take Medication A.
The invented label Medicamento A is used only to practice accurate transfer of a name.
Mission Part 4: check an instruction exactly
Read or listen:
Nombre: Medicamento A. Cantidad: 5 ml. Frecuencia: dos veces al día.
Meaning
Nombre: Medicamento A. — Name: Medication A.
Cantidad: 5 ml. — Amount: 5 milliliters.
Frecuencia: dos veces al día. — Frequency: twice a day.
Repeat the sensitive details
Use confirmation rather than guessing.
¿Medicamento A, 5 ml, dos veces al día? — Medication A, 5 milliliters, twice a day?
If the speaker confirms:
Sí, correcto. — Yes, correct.
Mission Part 5: ask about an unclear part
If you understand the name and amount but not the frequency, say exactly what is unclear.
- No entiendo la frecuencia. — I do not understand the frequency.
- ¿Puede repetir la frecuencia, por favor? — Can you repeat the frequency, please?
If you miss the amount:
¿Puede repetir la cantidad, por favor? — Can you repeat the amount, please?
Do not replace missing information with assumptions
If you heard 5 but not the unit, the amount is incomplete. Ask for the unit rather than assuming ml.
¿Cuál es la unidad? — What is the unit?
