Speaking Task: Choose a Local Environmental Action and Explain Its Benefits in Spanish
In this speaking task, you will compare local environmental actions, choose one according to a stated need, explain who would do what and when, and respond to one simple objection without inventing unsupported benefits.
Local need
Situation:
— In the neighborhood there is a lot of rubbish around the park after weekends.
Three possible actions
Option A:
— Organize a community clean-up once a month.
Option B:
— Ask the city council for more litter bins at the park entrances.
Option C:
— Create a social-media campaign to remind visitors to pick up their waste.
Compare practical requirements
Option A needs volunteers and a date.
Option B needs a formal request to the city council.
Option C needs someone to prepare and publish the messages.
Choose according to the immediate need
Recommendation:
— I would choose to organize a community clean-up this month because the problem already exists and we can act directly.
Explain one realistic benefit
— It can help remove the rubbish that is already in the park.
This benefit follows directly from the action.
Do not invent a broader effect
Unsupported:
— This activity will reduce pollution in the whole city by 30 percent.
There is no data here to support that figure.
Explain who does what
— Volunteer residents can meet Saturday at ten. Two people can bring bags and gloves, and another person can coordinate the groups.
Explain when
— We could do the first clean-up next Saturday and afterward decide whether it makes sense to repeat it.
Respond to an objection
Person A: Una limpieza no evita que vuelva a aparecer basura. — A clean-up does not prevent rubbish from appearing again.
Person B: Es verdad. — That is true. For that reason we could also ask for more litter bins, but the clean-up solves an immediate part of the problem.
Do not pretend one action solves everything
A realistic proposal can address one part of a larger problem without claiming to solve the whole issue.
Speaking mission
Choose one action and explain:
- the local need
- the action you recommend
- one or two practical benefits

- Responsibilities and timing are clear.
- The speaker handles one objection without exaggerating the result.
- No unsupported numerical or environmental claim is added.
From Local Action to Hearing Word Boundaries
You can now propose a local environmental action and explain its practical benefit and requirements. The next lesson returns to listening and shows how to identify familiar words inside connected Spanish speech.
